In the afternoon you will have a guided tour of the historical centre of Palermo. Full of monument from Arabic-Norman period some of which are the Cathedral, Martorana Church, San Cataldo Church, Palazzo dei Normanni and Palatina Chapel (Oldest still active Parliament in Europe). Other point of interest will be: “Quattro canti” Massimo Theatre, “Pretoria square” and “Shame fountain”. Last you will see “Politeama-Garibaldi theatre” and the square.
Return in Hotel. Overnight
Breakfast and departure to Monreale. Guided tour of massive Arabic-Norman Cathedral(famous for Byzantines Mosaics) and its beautiful cloister, arts masterpieces and sculptures.
You will carry on your visit to Erice, a town at 1000m OSL with a beautiful panorama overlooking Egadi Islands. In the afternoon you will visit Marsala’s saline, from where you will admire Stagnone’s islands and windmills, set inside the natural reserve. We will now go to Agrigento where you for your new overnight accommodation in hotel.
After breakfast we will travel to reach the hinterland of Agrigento where on the hill right where the Platani River begin we will bring you to the little village of “Sant’Angelo Muxaro” (old name was Kamikos, and the legend tell about Dedalo and Minosse were set here). The local guide will welcome you and shows you the historical city centre and he will assist you in the visit of the archaeological museum, cheese factory and old bakery. You will get also to try typical Sicilian street food: “Sfincione” (Sicilian pizza with pecorino cheese, olive oil, anchovies, onion and oregano).
After lunch will be time to go to Agrigento. The astonishing Valley of Temples will mesmerise your memories also UNESCO World Heritage site. Over the fields of almond trees (already in flowers in February) stand the remains of the old “Akragas”, defined from Pindato “the best city of mortal”. Here you can admire Giunone Temple, Concordia Temple and Ercole and Zeus Temples.
Return in Hotel. Overnight
After breakfast first stop will be Sambuca of Sicily, a tipycal Sicilian village that in 2016 was voted as the best village in Italy. In this beautiful town you could admire its historical centre with its beautiful streets. Carmine Church built in 1530 however its style is more based to artefacts of the 1300. The way itself to reach the church will fascinate you. The climb to the top in a amazing street with palm trees all on its side.
Next stop will be Selinunte where you will visit the big archaeological site. This site shows precious Greek ruins, and a typically Mediterranean landscape. We will than stop for lunch and we will continue, after, to Segesta where you will visit one of the most suggestive places of all Sicily. Set on top of Barbaro hill, 400 meter high over the sea level, founded of Elimi. Segesta is famous especially for its Doric temple, and on the top there is the theatre overlooking Castellammare and its gulf.
Transfer now to Palermo where we will have our last night accommodation.
After breakfast, free morning in Palermo. This will be the end of the tour. Your English speaking driver will now pick you up to bring you back to the airport. .
