Italian food, Recipe for success
As the country itself, Italian Foods and recipes are full of history and culture. What makes this country so unbelievably attracting, apart from its many sites, is the collection of Pasta, Pizza, Tomatoes, Coffee and flavours in general. The Mediterranean diet with its typical ingredients is the diet used as a benchmark to any other eating habits.
When we think about Italian food first thing that comes into our minds is pizza, pasta, coffee and wine. Also, the many courses meal, the many people around us and the amount time spent at the table. When I think about Italian food I think about all of it. Together. By simply missing one of those elements would mean tearing apart and eliminate the whole concept behind it.
An Italian meal is rather a ceremony in which every component has its key role. Starts with table cloths and napkins, embroidered or crochet but handmade from grandma or the great grandmother in the family. Donated as wedding gift when the daughter got married as part of the bridal kit. The plates, fine china made in the nearby village adorned with natural figures of the area in which you are. The silver cutlery worthy of Versailles court but made for families that have its roots dated back hundreds of years.
This is only the beginning. The table is properly prepared only to fulfil part of your senses: sight and touch. What is about to follow, the magnificent dishes that will roll over and over in front of you, will take care of the other senses and will satisfy the most demanding palate. The company and the time is what will remain in your memory for the time to come. It might be a long and hard work, but this is the set up on a normal Sunday lunch in a typical Italian family.
Hope you are hungry because the “Antipasti” is about to arrive
